When it came to designing a really special swimming pool and spa, Dr. Woolf turned to Peggy Martin of Dolphin Pools for both inspiration and expertise. Peggy has installed many infinity edge pools in the area but never a four-sided infinity edge spa. “This was a great challenge,” Peggy said. The spa was to be built with a black granite top surface and sides and a black colored interior seating bench and floor.

“The key to the building of a four-sided infinity edge spa,” continued Peggy, “is achieving an even flow over each side, giving the appearance of an elevated cube of water.” To accomplish this, Peggy had to polish the granite inch by inch to make sure the water flow did not have the slightest interruption on any of the four sides. Lighting that changes colors on a timer was added to the spa. The spa is very visually appealing during the day, but at night with the changing colored lights, it takes on a surreal appearance. Again, like that strawberry pie, you do not know whether to sit in the spa and soak…or just look at it!

The home of Dr. Woolf will be featured in the Spring 2009 edition of Ventanas and the entire outdoor living area will be beautifully displayed for you.
