The economy is the focus of the nation and the world, and local conversations frequently express our concerns. Most of us have reassessed our priorities and made adjustments where needed. The good news for the El Paso/Las Cruces region is that federal spending, especially related to Fort Bliss and White Sands Missile Range, has been in high gear for some time. The ripple effect from that spending will no doubt lighten the impact of the downturn in this area.
That said, the Winter Edition of Ventanas has appropriately concentrated on remodeled homes, and what some homeowners have accomplished within the footprints of their current properties is nothing less than amazing. The owners we interviewed enjoy their current locations for the conveniences or views, but wanted to modify their spaces to take advantage of “empty nests,” to create larger kitchens with the latest gadgets, to establish more functional patios and to generally fix the things they never liked about their homes. Some have tackled specific rooms while others have worked from the ground up.

An excellent starting point is here within the pages of Ventanas magazine, the Winter edition!
