“It runs in the family,” Kyle says. “It is something that has always been a possibility.” So, he started building three years ago after graduating from New Mexico State University, and feels lucky that when he runs into a snag, or has a question, he can go to his dad. “I always go to him for his opinion. He’s an invaluable resource, plus he’s a good dad,” Kyle says.
Since he started building on his own, Kyle has built five homes, including his personal Tuscan-style home in Sonoma Ranch. The homes are often large with a modern to rustic Tuscan feel, and Kyle always makes several areas extra special.
Kyle’s ability to build with such detail comes from the very beginning when he literally starts from the ground up – creating a floor plan that fits the needs of a homeowner. “I like to find out what their lifestyle is like and what their overall style is, then I start to work with their ideas and needs,” Kyle says. “The style of the house influences a lot, then you move from there.”
While focusing on details and style, Kyle also focuses on quality products. He can often be found working with framers, because he wants to make sure the end result meets his expectations, and he works one-on-one with subcontractors to make sure the “quality I want in the house is there from beginning to end.”
In his own home, Kyle lives with girlfriend Alex South, 23, and dog, Fiona. Together, the couple, who met while working on plans for another home, brought together all the styles that make the home fabulous, particularly a kitchen that works wonderfully for the couple on an everyday basis and for entertaining. Perhaps the most unique part of the kitchen is the island, which steps down in height from a sitting bar, to a larger area for cooking or displays. “It is the perfect place to spread everything out,” says Alex, who is a student at NMSU. “I can’t wait to start baking cookies with all this space.”
With an impressive background and promising future, Kyle doesn’t stop at creating beautiful homes. Currently, he is a partner in the nationwide company LED Visual Solutions, which creates outdoor and indoor LED signs. The company, which started up a year ago, provides everything from small scrolling ticker units to full color billboards. As a partner, Kyle continues to add to his already extensive list of professional experience.
The proof from a successful home building business and as an international LED supplier shows Kyle is not your typical 24-year-old. Already achieving more than so many in his age bracket, he is showing he is exceptional.
