Oeste Homes… Redefining Custom for 25 Years

When holding a measuring stick alongside any business, one indicator of success is as simple as the test of time. No matter what the product, good quality never goes out of style. And consistent quality is something that has kept Bob Paschich, president of Oeste Homes, in business for 25 years.

Raised in El Paso since he was three, Bob considers himself a native; though, he did spend a few years away from the region in his early adulthood. After high school and some time at the University of Texas at El Paso, Bob attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received a bachelor’s degree in government. Upon graduation, the opportunity to join his brother, Ed Paschich, in a business venture in Albuquerque presented itself and the pair formed Passage Construction Company. Over the course of the next four years, the two perfected the art and skill required in building adobe homes, including a home they built for their parents. When the chance to become the divisional vice-president for US Homes (then the nation’s largest home builder) in El Paso came along, it was an offer too good to pass up, and Bob headed back to his beloved Sun City. After three years with the company, Bob decided to set out on his own with the idea of taking customization to the next level and thus Oeste Homes was born.

Today, through Oeste, Bob stays true to his homebuilding roots. While there is not a lot of call for actual adobe, many homebuyers like the adobe look and this is where Bob’s expertise and experience have been honed. Borrowing from firsthand knowledge he gained in Albuquerque, he is able to give the homeowner the best of both worlds. “Adobe is harder to work with,” Bob explains. And since other quality materials can result in the same appearance (with an added bonus of an overall lower cost), it frees buyers to invest their home buying dollars elsewhere on any number of luxurious bells and whistles – also an area about which Bob knows a lot and can assist his clients.

One thing that is evident, many El Pasoans like the Santa Fe style; and for those who do, Oeste Homes becomes a one-stop shop to achieve their own little slice of New Mexico right here on the border. In fact, in last year’s Fall Parade of Homes, Oeste Homes featured a model that had many reluctant to leave the premises.

Upon entering the front door, you are immediately delighted by the interior courtyard. The concept of courtyards is becoming wildly popular as they offer privacy and security coupled with the ability to enjoy our region’s mild seasons. Cobblestone laid in a carefully planned pattern, a fireplace and the mottled sunlight that streams through the spruce vigas and latillas overhead make this space very inviting.

The indoor floor plan is open and airy, with one room flowing into another to allow conversation among family members involved in separate activities while simultaneously showing off the architectural genius and inspired customization of the space. Never has there been a lovelier marriage of form and function. The two-way fireplace can be enjoyed from either the great room or the dining room and serves as a splendid way to visually separate the rooms without literally closing them off one from another. The cabana-style wet bar situated conveniently between the dining and living areas is another intriguing design twist. The wood alone makes this home a stand apart. From the beautiful pine plantation shutters throughout the residence to the rustic tongue and groove ceilings with massive vigas, each element combines to bring a sense of warmth and beauty to the home. The classic hickory cabinetry in the kitchen joins perfectly with the contemporary bar of poured concrete.

It would be impossible to describe every facet of an Oeste home. Even the best photography can’t relay the full appreciation you will have from actually stepping into one of these houses. Neither pen nor image can capture the subtle, yet marvelous, changes in ambiance created almost magically as illumination from morning sunlight is exchanged for the gentle glow of a magnificent chandelier nor the fragrant piñon smoke as it lofts out of chimneys and disappears skyward. Every aspect of living has been considered and brilliantly transformed into a structure that truly warrants its claim: custom. These homes are unique; each is like a work of art that is never duplicated.

You have comfort, beauty, quality and distinctive style… you have Santa Fe in El Paso.
