Developed by Jerry Hines and Hal Singer, Villa Esperanza is located on Avenida de Mesilla, just beyond Trails West Retirement Community. With the help of architect Steve Newby & Associates and Interior Designer Connie Hines, the two developers built the 70-unit Villa Esperanza using unique construction and a lot of hard work. It is part of an 18-year development plan that spans the area from I-10 to Highway 292, including the five acres Villa Esperanza is located on.

The two buildings that make up the development are each built around beautifully landscaped courtyards, complete with a pool. Both buildings contain their own fitness facilities. The construction features double walls, so there are no common walls between any of the units. Not only does this reflect the quality of construction, but also speaks highly of the attention given to design detail. Connie Hines has created both the interior and exterior appearance of the buildings, giving the condos a mix of Tuscan and Southwestern elements.

“These units are really similar to most high-end homes in their construction,” says Singer. “We are the only units in town that have fire suppressor systems, with sprinklers installed in each unit.”

Other amenities include a fireplace in each unit, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, high speed Internet, pre-wiring for cable and dish, ceramic tile, Berber carpet and a variety of floor plans. A security fence wraps around the entire development, and each unit is wired for alarm monitoring. The condos are for sale, lease or lease purchase. Another amenity offered is a private garage, if needed.

Still, the biggest draw for many residents is the proximity to Old Mesilla — shopping, dining and relaxing, along with the many festivals and events offered in the plaza. Singer says a lot of people who reside in the Mesilla area enjoy the pedestrian aspect of living near the town.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback from people,” continues Singer. “This area attracts a certain kind of clientele — those who enjoy walking and biking.”

Villa Esperanza caters to those who appreciate the finer elements and are also looking for the convenience of a fully maintained condominium community with pool, fitness center and attractive landscaping.

“We find a lot of people buying this type of property for secondary homes,” says Singer. “It’s hard to find good quality at our price point.” The units range from $200,000 to $250,000 depending on floor plan and location. A professional interior design consultation is included when you purchase. Leasing is also available from $850 a month.
